Overview

Rebirth is a 2024 television series centered on the life of a prominent cocoa farmer named José Inocêncio. The narrative follows his rise to becoming a mythical figure in his region after entering into a pact with Jequitibá. As a young man, he falls in love with Maria Santa, and their relationship leads to the birth of four sons: José Augusto, José Bento, José Venâncio, and the youngest, João Pedro. The family dynamic is permanently altered by a tragic event when Maria Santa dies while giving birth to João Pedro. This loss creates a lasting rift between the father and his youngest son. José Inocêncio blames João Pedro for the death of his wife, leading to a life defined by coldness and resentment. The series explores the complex and strained relationship between the two, as the father struggles with his grief while the son grows up without ever having the opportunity to know his mother.
