Quinceañera is a Mexican telenovela produced by Carla Estrada for Televisa that originally aired from October 5, 1987, to May 12, 1988. The series, which comprises 91 episodes, was directed by Pedro Damián and stars Adela Noriega, Thalía, Ernesto Laguardia, Blanca Sánchez, and Jorge Lavat. The plot centers on the lives of two best friends, Maricruz Fernández and Beatriz, who are both about to turn 15 years old. As they prepare for this milestone, the characters transition from childhood toward adulthood. The show is widely recognized as the first Mexican telenovela produced specifically for a teenage audience. It is also noted for being the first production of its kind to address themes including substance abuse, date rape, and gangs. The Associated Press named Quinceañera one of the ten most influential telenovelas to air in Latin America.
