Overview

Queen of the South is an American crime drama television series created by M.A. Fortin and Joshua John Miller. The show premiered on June 23, 2016, on the USA Network and is an adaptation of the telenovela La Reina del Sur, which airs on the network's sister channel, Telemundo. The cast of the series includes Alice Braga, Hemky Madera, Peter Gadiot, and Veronica Falcón. The narrative follows a woman named Teresa who is forced to flee Mexico after her boyfriend, a drug runner, is murdered. Upon settling in Dallas, Teresa seeks to establish herself as the country's reigning drug smuggler. In addition to building her criminal empire, she is driven by a desire to avenge the death of her lover. The series ran from 2016 until 2021. The program explores the dangerous world of drug trafficking as the protagonist navigates her new life in the United States while attempting to rise to power within the illicit trade.
