Overview
Quantum Leap is an American science fiction television series created by Donald P. Bellisario. The program aired on NBC for five seasons, beginning on March 26, 1989, and concluding on May 5, 1993. The series stars Scott Bakula as Dr. Sam Beckett, a physicist who theorizes that time travel is possible within one's own lifetime. After stepping into his Quantum Leap accelerator, Beckett vanishes and becomes trapped in the past. He finds himself leaping from life to life, assuming different identities and facing mirror images that are not his own. Driven by an unknown force, he strives to change history for the better by putting right what once went wrong. His only guide during these travels is Al, an observer from his own time who appears as a hologram that only Beckett can see and hear. Beckett continues his journey, never knowing where or when he will land next, while hoping that each new leap will finally return him to his own time and home.
