As Ash reaches the Hive Gym, he has just the Pokémon to challenge the Gym Leader's Bug Pokémon. The television series Pokémon, which originally began airing in 1997, is a Japanese anime series created as a supplement to video game franchises. The anime series broadly presents the same story used in individual video games, though naturally featuring a multitude of storyline detours. Ash is accompanied by his partner Pikachu as he travels through the world, capturing and training various creatures.
