After winning his way to the final competition for the Orange League Winner's Trophy, victory seems a long shot for Ash as the Gym Leader deploys a powerful Gengar that topples one of Ash's Pokémon after another. Pokémon is a Japanese anime series that originated as a companion to video game franchises. The anime series roughly presents the same story used in the individual video games, though naturally with a multitude of story detours. Ash is accompanied by his partner Pikachu as he travels.
