Following his participation in the Pokémon League Tournament, Ash and his friends make their return to Pallet Town to receive a hero's welcome. This marks a homecoming for Ash, who travels accompanied by his partner Pikachu. The events take place within the context of the Pokémon anime series, which originally began airing in 1997 as a Japanese animated series created as a companion to video game franchises. While the television series shares a framework with the individual video games, it features numerous narrative deviations throughout its run.
