Ash and the others happen upon a town that can only be reached by a long bike bridge, but they do not have enough money to rent bikes for the crossing. The television series Pokémon, which originally aired starting in 1997, is a Japanese anime series created as a companion to video game franchises. The anime series broadly presents the same story as used in individual video games, but with a multitude of storyline deviations. Ash is accompanied by his partner Pikachu as he travels.
