Overview
Pogey Beach is a Canadian comedy film directed by Jeremy Larter that was released in Canada on January 22, 2019. The movie is a spin-off from the web series Just Passing Through, featuring characters who were fans of an in-universe television series called Pogey Beach, and depicts the world inside that show-within-a-show. The story centers on Bethany Lockwood, a naive nineteen-year-old who has just moved to Prince Edward Island. After arriving, she catches the attention of Gary Gallant, who is the reigning King of Pogey Beach. At the same time, Lyle Macdonald, a spiritual pogey bum and the nemesis of Gary Gallant, also vies for Bethany's attention. After Bethany gets a taste of working for cash under the table, she plans the ultimate job that goes horribly wrong. With everyone ending up in pogey jail, the film follows whether Gary and Lyle can put aside their differences and save Pogey Beach.
