Overview

Pinocchio is a 1940 American animated musical fantasy film produced by Walt Disney and released by RKO Radio Pictures. The film is loosely based on Carlo Collodi's 1883 novel The Adventures of Pinocchio. It tells the story of a wooden puppet created by the kind woodcarver Geppetto, who wishes for a son. A fairy grants life to the puppet, named Pinocchio, with the condition that he must prove himself brave, truthful, and unselfish to become a real boy. Guided by Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio embarks on an adventure filled with challenges that test his character. The film was directed by Norman Ferguson, T. Hee, Wilfred Jackson, Jack Kinney, Hamilton Luske, Bill Roberts, and Ben Sharpsteen, with supervision from Ben Sharpsteen and Hamilton Luske.
