Overview

Perception is an American crime drama television series created by Kenneth Biller and Mike Sussman. The program centers on Dr. Daniel Pierce, a neuroscience professor and neuropsychiatrist who possesses an intimate knowledge of human behavior and a masterful understanding of the mind. Because of these skills, he is recruited to assist the federal government in solving complex cases. Eric McCormack stars as the lead character, who works alongside his former student, an FBI agent. While his expertise allows him to read people with extraordinary ability, Pierce faces significant personal challenges. He is a paranoid schizophrenic who struggles with hallucinations, and his eccentric view of the world and limited social skills often interfere with his professional responsibilities. The series features a supporting cast including Rachael Leigh Cook, Kelly Rowan, and Arjay Smith. Perception aired in the United States on the cable channel TNT. The show ran from 2012 until 2015, following the character as he navigates his academic career and his investigative work for the government.
