Pacific Rim: The Black follows the journey of two teenage siblings, Taylor and Hayley, who are left behind in Australia after the continent is overrun by Kaiju. Following the mass evacuation of the region, the siblings embark on a dangerous mission to locate their missing parents. To navigate the hostile, Kaiju-infested landscape, they pilot a Jaeger, a massive robot originally designed to combat the creatures. Throughout their search, the siblings must traverse the treacherous environment known as the Black. Their journey forces them to confront new and dangerous creatures while navigating encounters with seedy characters and forming alliances with chance acquaintances. The narrative centers on their idealistic quest for survival and family reunification within a desolate, post-evacuation Australia. As they travel through the ruins of their home, they face the ongoing threat of the Kaiju that forced the continent's abandonment. This animated series, which debuted on Netflix in 2021, explores the siblings' struggle to find a way home while operating their Jaeger in a world where the era of organized Jaeger defense has passed, leaving them to rely on their own resourcefulness to survive the perils of the Black.
