The story is set in the year 2138, a time when virtual reality gaming is booming. The plot follows a popular MMORPG called Yggdrasil. As the game is scheduled to be shut down permanently, a veteran player named Momonga, who is the leader of the guild Ainz Ooal Gown, decides to remain logged in. After the clock hits zero, Momonga finds himself immersed in the world of Yggdrasil. He is transformed into the image of a skeleton, possessing the powers of a formidable sorcerer. As the game world continues to change, the non-player characters begin to develop their own personalities and minds. With his character’s powers and total dominion over these NPCs, Momonga decides to take over the world. The series is categorized under animation, science fiction, fantasy, and action-adventure.
