Oh, Susanna is a 1936 American Western musical film directed by Joseph Kane. The picture features a cast that includes Gene Autry, Smiley Burnette, and Frances Grant, with the screenplay written by Oliver Drake. The film was released in the United States on August 19, 1936, and has a runtime of fifty-four minutes. The story centers on a cowboy who is robbed and then thrown from a train by an escaped murderer. Following this attack, the murderer assumes the cowboy's identity. Additional cast members include Earle Hodgins, and the film features appearances by the Light Crust Doughboys. Due to the failure of the original copyright holder to renew the film's copyright, Oh, Susanna eventually fell into the public domain, allowing various copies to be duplicated and distributed.
