Overview
Octonauts is a British 3D-animated children's television series that first aired in 2010. The show is based on children's books written by the design team Meomi, consisting of Vicki Wong and Michael C. Murphy. Produced for the BBC network CBeebies, the series features an underwater exploring crew composed of eight stylized anthropomorphic animals. These adventurers live in an undersea base called the Octopod, which is shaped like an octopus. From this location, the team deploys a fleet of aquatic vehicles to embark on various missions. The crew includes Captain Barnacles Bear, the ex-pirate Kwazii Cat, and the medic Peso Penguin. The series is directed by Darragh O'Connell and features voice work from actors including Ross Breen, Simon Greenall, Rob Rackstraw, Keith Wickham, and Jo Wyatt. Production of the series was handled by Silvergate Media, with animation provided by Brown Bag Films in Ireland. The intrepid band of explorers roams the oceans in search of adventure, fun, and new voyages.
