No Job for a Lady is a television series that premiered in 1990 and was made by Thames Television for ITV. The comedy series follows the life of Jean Price, who is the newly elected and somewhat rebellious Labour member of parliament for an inner-city constituency, and her life in the House of Commons. She is married to Geoff Price, a public defender who also takes care of many household chores so that Jean can pursue her new career. Jean balances her personal life with her parliamentary duties, which include women's issues. She alternately fights for these issues and is frustrated by them, as other members of parliament think she cares about nothing else due to her gender. In the course of her duties, she is often surprised by the duplicity and hypocrisy of others, as she holds them to a significantly higher standard.
