In the seventeenth episode of the third season of NCIS, titled Ravenous, the investigative team is called to a national forest following the discovery of Marine dog tags by a group of teenagers. Upon arriving at the scene, the agents begin a search for the campsite belonging to the Marine associated with the recovered items. During the course of their search, the team uncovers evidence suggesting that the Marine was not alone at the location, as they find indications that another person, possibly a woman, had been with him. As the investigation progresses, the team makes a more significant discovery that shifts the scope of their inquiry. The evidence leads the agents to suspect that a serial killer may be operating within the national forest and targeting women. The episode follows the team as they navigate these findings to determine the nature of the crimes and the identity of the potential perpetrator.
