NCIS is a crime, drama, and action and adventure television series that follows a Major Case Response Team of the NCIS as they investigate criminal cases connected to United States Navy and Marines Corps personnel and their families. The series was created by Donald P. Bellisario and Don McGill, and originates as two back-door pilot episodes of the existing show JAG that aired in April 2003. The main cast includes Mark Harmon as Leroy Jethro Gibbs, Michael Weatherly as Tony DiNozzo, and Sasha Alexander as Caitlin Todd. Other cast members associated with the series across its run include Sean Murray, David McCallum, Brian Dietzen, and Rocky Carroll.

In the fourteenth season, specifically episode eight, titled Enemy Combatant, NCIS Agent Bishop is sent to Gitmo to gather evidence for a Navy chaplain murder case. While on this assignment, she questions her previous work at the NSA.
