In the television series NCIS, the episode titled Semper Fortis follows Gibbs as he searches for a way to clear a Navy Hospital Corpsman. The corpsman has been indicted for illegally providing medical aid to the victims of a hit and run accident. The series itself is an American military police procedural television series focusing on a team of special agents who investigate cases ranging from murder and espionage to terrorism and stolen submarines. Created by Donald P. Bellisario and Don McGill, the program originated as two back-door pilot episodes of the existing show JAG that aired in April 2003 before premiering as its own series. The long-running broadcast features cast members such as Mark Harmon, Sean Murray, David McCallum, Brian Dietzen, and Rocky Carroll, and serves as the first installment within the broader NCIS media franchise.
