Overview

Money for Nothing is a 1993 American biographical comedy crime film directed by Ramon Menendez, and written by Menendez, Tom Musca, and Carol Sobieski. The film is based on the 1986 Philadelphia Inquirer article Finders Keepers by Mark Bowden, and it stars John Cusack in the leading role. The supporting cast includes Debi Mazar and Michael Madsen. In the film, when unemployed dockworker Joey Coyle finds 1.2 million dollars that fell off of an armored car, he decides to take the money and run under the idea of finders keepers. He turns to his ex-girlfriend Monica, who works in an investment firm, for advice, before turning to the mob for help laundering the money. While Joey makes plans to leave the country, a detective follows his ever-warmer trail in order to recover the cash. The film was released in the United States on September 10, 1993, and has a run time of one hour and forty minutes.
