Overview

Miss Marple is a television drama series that originally aired from 1984 to 1992 as a BBC adaptation of the novels by Agatha Christie. The show features an elderly woman and amateur detective whose sharp mind helps her solve a series of seemingly baffling cases. Joan Hickson stars in the title role. The definitive adaptation of all twelve Miss Marple novels features a theme composed by Ken Howard and Alan Blaikley. The production was overseen by producer George Gallaccio, with scripts written by T. R. Bowen, Julia Jones, Alan Parker, Ken Taylor, and Jill Hyem. The series also co-stars David Horovitch as Inspector, later Superintendent, Slack and Ian Brimble as Constable, later Sergeant, Lake, who appear as semi-regular characters alongside the lead detective. Additional cast members across the course of the series include John Castle, Joan Sims, Sylvia Syms, Samantha Bond, Peter Davison, Timothy West, Tom Wilkinson, Paul Eddington, Cheryl Campbell, Maurice Denham, and Donald Pleasence.
