Overview

Released in 1997, the American military comedy film McHale's Navy was directed by Bryan Spicer and based on the television series of the same title that ran from 1962 to 1966. The screenplay was written by Peter Crabbe and Andy Rose, and the film starred Tom Arnold, David Alan Grier, Dean Stockwell, Debra Messing, and Tim Curry, with Ernest Borgnine also appearing.

The story follows retired Lieutenant Commander Quinton McHale as he spends his days in the Caribbean aboard the old PT-73 selling swimsuit calendars, ice cream, and homebrew. McHale is brought out of retirement when his old nemesis, Major Vladikov, who has become the second top terrorist in the world, takes over the island of San Moreno to build a nuclear launch silo. Aided by his old crew and hindered by Captain Wallace B. Binghampton, who previously sank a cruise liner, McHale sets out to put Vladikov out of business.
