Masterpiece is a long-running drama anthology television series produced by WGBH Boston that airs on PBS. Originally premiering on January 10, 1971, under the name Masterpiece Theatre, the program has become known for presenting acclaimed British productions, including classic adaptations and murder mysteries. The series features a diverse lineup of content, ranging from dramas to programs originally broadcast in the United Kingdom. As of the start of the broadcast of Victoria Series One in January 2017, the branding of the series underwent a change. The designation Masterpiece Classic was retired, and the program became known simply as Masterpiece on screen, as well as on PBS Masterpiece social media and online platforms. Concurrent with this branding update, the series ceased the use of an on-screen host. Today, the series remains one of the most popular drama programs in television history, with episodes and clips available through the official PBS website, the official YouTube channel, and various streaming platforms. The series continues to offer viewers access to hit dramas and blockbuster movies.
