Overview

Martin's Day is a 1985 drama and crime film with a runtime of one hour and thirty-eight minutes. Threatened with recapture following a prison escape, an adult fugitive named Martin Stechert grabs a twelve-year-old boy as a hostage. Interestingly, the young captive is also named Martin and is described as a quiet, obedient boy whose life has consisted only of dismal loneliness and frustration. As they flee through hijacks and hijinx, the younger Martin soon begins to admire his captor for his cheeky pranks against society and his desperate mission to make dreams come true. The pair makes their way toward the idyllic peace of the older Martin's childhood home, which is a cabin located on a lake, while the police remain close behind. In a climactic moment along the journey, the boy chooses to stay with the man even though he has the opportunity to run away.
