Overview

Married at First Sight is an American reality television series that first aired on July 8, 2014. The program is based on a Danish television format titled Gift ved første blik, which originally premiered in 2013. The series follows individuals who participate in an extreme social experiment by agreeing to enter into a legal marriage with a complete stranger. These participants do not meet or have contact with their partners until the day of their wedding. To determine the pairings, a team of specialists, including a spiritualist, a relationship coach, and a sociologist, utilizes scientific matchmaking methods. Following the wedding ceremonies, the show documents the subsequent relationships, including honeymoons and other events associated with married life. The series originally aired on the network FYI and later moved to Lifetime and Peacock. The program features various cast members, including Pepper Schwartz, Calvin Roberson, Viviana Coles, and Jessica Griffin, and was created by Lotte Offenberg Bergqvist. The show explores the lives of singles who are seeking a life-long partnership through this unique proposal.
