Overview
Marathon is a 2005 South Korean drama film directed by Jeong Yoon-cheol. The story centers on Cho-won, an autistic but happy young man who loves to draw zebras and run. His mother, Kyung-sook, discovers his condition and feels devastated, but she firmly believes there is something he can do very well and wants him to feel normal by accomplishing a feat no one thought he could achieve. With the help of a coach in exile, who is a former champion marathoner named Jeong-wook, she trains Cho-won to become a marathon runner. Kyung-sook and Jeong-wook see Cho-won's potential, and his assiduous training continues. The film is based on the true story of Bae Hyeong-jin, an autistic marathon runner. Starring Cho Seung-woo and Kim Mi-sook, the production was released in South Korea on January 27, 2005, with a runtime of one hour and fifty-seven minutes, and it became the fourth most attended Korean film of the year.
