Mamba is a 1930 American pre-Code drama film released by Tiffany Pictures and shot entirely in Technicolor. Set in German East Africa during the period before World War I, the story follows August Bolte, the richest man in a local settlement. Despised by both the European settlers and the locals for his arrogance and greed, Bolte is called Mamba, after a deadly snake, by the local population. To save a destitute nobleman from ruin, Bolte forces the nobleman's beautiful daughter to marry him. After she arrives in Africa, she falls in love with an officer serving in the local German garrison. When World War I breaks out, Bolte cannot avoid conscription and ultimately foments a rebellion among the local natives. The film stars Jean Hersholt, Eleanor Boardman, Ralph Forbes, Josef Swickard, Claude Fleming, William Stanton, and William von Brincken, and was based on a story by Ferdinand Schumann-Heink and John Reinhardt.
