Overview
Maken-Ki! Battling Venus is a Japanese anime series that aired in 2011. The show follows Takeru Ohyama, a teenage boy who enrolls in a new school that has recently become co-educational and does not require entrance exams. Upon arrival, he discovers that the school harbors a secret: all students wield special items called Makens to perform magical abilities and engage in duels. As Takeru attempts to adapt to this unusual environment, he also seeks to find a Maken suitable for him. The series blends elements of romantic comedy with action and adventure as Takeru navigates both his new school life and the challenges posed by its hidden nature. It was produced by AIC and aired on Tokyo MX. The series has also been released in North America under the title Maken-Ki! Battling Venus by Crunchyroll. Two original video animation episodes were later produced by AIC and Xebec.
