Legendary Weapons of China is a 1982 martial arts fantasy film, also known as a wuxia pian, directed by Liu Chia-liang. The story is set during the late Qing Dynasty, a period marked by the Boxer Rebellion. The plot follows Empress Dowager Cixi as she dispatches her agents to various factions associated with the rebellion. Her objective is to locate supernatural martial artists who possess the ability to remain invulnerable to western bullets. The narrative tension escalates when one of the leaders of these martial arts groups decides to disband his forces. In response to this action, assassins are sent out from the remaining factions with the specific intent to kill him. Known in Chinese as Shí bā bān wǔ yì, the film is also referred to by the alternative title Legendary Weapons of Kung Fu. It was released in Hong Kong on January 21, 1982.
