In the Law and Order Special Victims Unit episode titled Brotherhood, the investigation begins when the body of a young man is discovered inside a tank at a wastewater treatment plant. Upon examination, the medical examiner identifies a specific tattoo on the victim that reads TE. This marking is identified as the symbol for the fraternity Tau Omega.

The detectives assigned to the case determine that the victim served as the pledge master for the fraternity. As the inquiry into the circumstances of his death progresses, the authorities uncover that the victim had been murdered and subjected to sodomy. The investigation into these crimes leads the detectives to discover a pornographic website operated by the victim. This website featured footage of college girls at a local bar. The detectives must navigate the connections between the fraternity, the victim's activities, and the evidence found at the scene to resolve the case.
