In the fourth episode of the fourth season of Law and Order Special Victims Unit, titled Lust, the detectives of the NYPD Special Victims Unit investigate the murder and rape of a public health doctor. The victim, who was the wife of a retired attorney, worked as a professional responsible for tracking HIV cases. Her professional duties involved contacting the sexual partners of patients diagnosed with HIV, which provides the investigative team with an extensive list of potential suspects. During the course of the investigation, the detectives attempt to link a series of threatening phone calls to the crime. The case takes a significant turn when a second body is discovered in Central Park. Because this second victim exhibits the same signature as the first, the focus of the investigation shifts toward the possibility that a serial killer is operating in the area. The series, created by Dick Wolf, follows the specially trained squad as they investigate sex crimes. The core cast of the program includes Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson and Christopher Meloni as Detective Elliot Stabler, alongside Ice-T and Dann Florek. The show is a police procedural crime drama that serves as the first spin-off of the original Law and Order series.
