Synopsis
The kidnapping of an infant at a grocery store leads to an illegal adoption ring and the long lost closure of a case from 12 years prior of a murdered mother and missing baby which involved Capt. Cragen and his partner, the late Max Greevey.

In the third episode of the third season of Law and Order Special Victims Unit, titled Stolen, the detectives of the NYPD squad investigate the kidnapping of an infant from a grocery store. This investigation leads the team to uncover an illegal adoption ring. As the detectives pursue the case, it becomes linked to a cold case from twelve years prior involving the murder of a mother and the disappearance of her baby. This historical case previously involved Captain Cragen and his late partner, Max Greevey. The episode centers on the efforts of the squad to resolve the current kidnapping while finally providing closure to the long-unsolved investigation from the past. Law and Order Special Victims Unit is a police procedural crime drama series created by Dick Wolf that follows a specially trained squad of detectives who investigate sex crimes, including rape, pedophilia, child abuse, human trafficking, and domestic violence. The series stars Mariska Hargitay as Olivia Benson and Christopher Meloni as Elliot Stabler. The program is the first spin-off of the original Law and Order series and is part of a larger franchise.
