Land of the Lustrous 2017

Overview

Land of the Lustrous is a television series set in a mysterious future where crystalline beings known as Gems live in a world that has been devastated by six meteors. These Gems are engaged in an ongoing conflict with the Lunarians, a hostile species that attacks them with the intent of shattering their bodies to use as decorative objects. Each Gem has been assigned specific roles to contribute to the war effort against this threat. The series follows Phosphophyllite, also called Phos, a young and physically fragile Gem who aspires to participate more actively in the fight. Due to their delicate condition, Phos is instead assigned the task of compiling an encyclopedia. Reluctantly beginning this work, Phos encounters Cinnabar, an intelligent Gem who has been assigned to patrol duties. The series explores the experiences of these crystalline beings as they navigate their roles in this post-apocalyptic world while dealing with the constant threat posed by the Lunarians.
