Kurozuka is a 2008 television series set in feudal Japan that follows the journey of a man named Kurou and his servant, Benkei. The narrative begins as the pair flees from Kurou's elder brother, who has recently ascended to the throne. While traveling through a forest, they encounter a house inhabited by a mysterious woman named Kuromitsu. She agrees to provide them with shelter under the strict condition that they refrain from entering the inner chambers of her home. Their sanctuary is soon compromised when the Red Army arrives, searching for Kuromitsu because her blood possesses the power of immortality. During the subsequent conflict, Kurou sustains fatal wounds. He consumes some of Kuromitsu's blood, which grants him immortality and grants him access to strange new abilities. Following this transformation, Kurou is seemingly decapitated. The story continues as he awakens centuries later in a future setting. The series explores the consequences of this supernatural encounter and the long-term effects of the immortality Kurou has acquired.
