Overview

Kremlin cadets is a 2009 Russian comedy‑drama television series. The narrative follows the first weeks of training at the Moscow Higher Military Command School, focusing on three distinct groups of newcomers. The primary cohort consists of three Suvorov School graduates— Ilya Sukhomlin, Stepan Perepechko and Alexei Syrnikov—who arrive at the end of summer and receive the rank of junior sergeant. A second contingent comprises graduates of civilian schools, referred to in the series as “schoolchildren,” namely Dmitry Krasilnikov, Gennady Varnava and Nikolai Kovnadsky, who enter the academy without prior military education. The third group is made up of “army men” who have already completed conscript service: Evgeny Bragin, Sergey Gonchar and Stepan Prokhorov. By juxtaposing the experiences of these three categories—young officers from a military boarding school, civilian novices, and former conscripts—the series explores the challenges of adaptation, camaraderie and hierarchy within a military training environment. The ensemble cast portrays the differing attitudes and backgrounds of the cadets as they navigate the demands of their new roles.
