Kraken is a 2026 motion picture that exists in two distinct productions. The Norwegian monster action horror film, directed by Pål Øie, follows a marine biologist conducting research at a fish farm. After encountering strange occurrences and the deaths of two teenagers, she investigates the deep fjord to determine if something exists within the depths. This version was written by Vilde Eide, Kjersti Helen Rasmussen, and Natasha Arthur, based on a story by Pål Øie and Sjur Aarthun.
A separate French production, also titled Kraken and released in 2026, was directed by Mohamed Chabane and Théo Jourdain Rhodes. This film serves as the debut feature for both directors and held its world premiere at the Grand Rex in Paris. The plot centers on a housing project where an abandoned tower becomes the subject of rumors. After a series of disappearances, five young people enter the structure. Once inside, they find themselves trapped in a deadly snare and realize that escape is impossible. The film premiered internationally on digital platforms in June 2026.
