Overview
Joy of Life is a 2019 Chinese television series based on the novel Qing Yunian by Mao Ni. Also known as Thankful for the Remaining Years, the program premiered on Tencent Video and iQiyi on November 26, 2019. The series stars Zhang Ruoyun, Li Qin, and Chen Daoming. The narrative follows Zhang Qing, a college student who writes a work of historical fiction to analyze ancient literature through a modern perspective. Within this story, a young man named Fan Xian is born in the Southern Qing empire while possessing memories of the 21st century. Raised in a remote seaside town under the guidance of a mysterious mentor and a blindfolded watchman, Fan Xian eventually travels to the capital. There, he faces numerous ordeals and becomes entangled in the political intrigues of the Emperor while seeking to uncover the truth about his mysterious past and heritage. The series explores his journey as he persists in adhering to his principles while navigating the complexities of the ancient world.
