Ironside is an American television crime drama that aired on NBC for eight seasons between 1967 and 1975. The series stars Raymond Burr as Robert T. Ironside, a character who serves as a consultant to the San Francisco police department. After an assassin’s bullet leaves him paralyzed and ends his career as chief of detectives, Ironside continues to solve cases with a dedicated team. His core unit includes Detective Sergeant Ed Brown and policewoman Eve Whitfield, who eventually leaves the force after four years of service. She is later replaced by Officer Fran Belding. Additionally, Mark Sanger, initially hired as home help for the chief, transitions into a fully fledged member of the investigative team. The production, which also features actors Don Galloway and Don Mitchell, follows the group as they work to resolve varied and complex criminal matters. The series began with a made-for-television pilot movie that depicted the events leading to the injury that confined Ironside to a wheelchair for life.
