Initial D is a Japanese anime television series that originated from a manga series written and illustrated by Shuichi Shigeno. The series was serialized in Kodansha's seinen manga magazine Weekly Young Magazine and was later adapted into an anime series. The anime series, also known as Initial D First Stage, was released in 1998 and is based on the manga by Shuichi Shigeno. The story follows a young delivery boy who becomes involved in the underground street racing world. The main character, a skilled driver, uses his vehicle, an Eight-Six, to compete against other drivers. The series explores the world of street racing and the main character's journey as he proves himself to be a formidable driver. The anime series is the first installment in the adaptation of the Initial D manga, which consists of 48 tankōbon volumes.
