Overview
Himouto! Umaru-chan is a Japanese anime television series produced by Doga Kobo and based on the manga by Sankaku Head. The series aired on ABC from July 9 to September 24, 2015, and was simulcast worldwide by Crunchyroll. The story follows the life of Umaru Doma, a girl who appears to be a perfect, refined, and over-achieving high school student when in public. However, once she returns home and dons her signature hamster hoodie, she transforms into a lazy, junk food-eating otaku who spends her time gaming and relaxing. This behavior leaves all of the housework to her responsible older brother, Taihei. Throughout the series, Umaru interacts with her friends Nana Ebina and Kirie Motoba, as well as her self-proclaimed rival, Sylphinford Tachibana. The source material for the show was published in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump magazine. A sequel manga titled Himouto! Umaru-chan G was later published from November 2017 to April 2018. The television series remains available for viewing through various streaming platforms.
