Overview

Heartstopper is a British coming-of-age, romantic comedy, and teen drama television series created and written by Alice Oseman for Netflix. The series is based on Oseman’s webcomic and graphic novel series of the same name. The plot follows Charlie, a high-strung, openly gay overthinker, and Nick, a cheerful, soft-hearted rugby player. The two characters meet at a British all-boys grammar school and are eventually made to sit together in class. As they navigate school and young love, they discover that their unlikely friendship might be developing into something more. The narrative explores their evolving relationship as Charlie experiences these new feelings. Beyond the television adaptation, the source material includes a full graphic novel series, a coloring book, and a yearbook. While the television series will not return for a fourth season, it is scheduled to conclude with a wrap-up movie based on the sixth and final graphic novel, which is intended to tie up all remaining plot threads for the characters.
