Heart of Greed is a drama and family television series released in 2007. The story centers on Tong Yan-Gai, who owns a dried sea products and abalone store along with thirty-one shops for rental, resulting in a total net worth of six hundred million Hong Kong dollars. Yan-Gai is married to Ling Hau, a rich man's daughter, and he also has a second wife, Wong Sau-Kam, a former nurse who previously cared for Ling Hau during her cancer treatment. Ling Hau had not expected to survive her bout with cancer and wanted Sau-Kam to take care of her husband after her death, but Ling Hau ultimately recovered.
Yan-Gai has four children. With Ling Hau, he has three children named Tong Chi-On, Tong Chi-Yat, and Tong Chi-Yan. With Wong Sau-Kam, he has one child named Tong Chi-Foon. Because Sau-Kam is not legally married to Yan-Gai, she believes she has no true status or power within the family. This leads her to instigate a range of petty acts that tend to come back to haunt her. Seeking the family fortune, Sau-Kam causes trouble within the family in order to achieve her goal.
