Overview

Hayate the Combat Butler is an animated television series released in 2007 that falls under the animation and comedy genres. The story follows sixteen-year-old Hayate Ayasaki, who finds himself in a difficult situation due to the actions of his unemployed parents. Because his parents frequently waste money on gambling, Hayate has been forced to work from a young age to support his family. This upbringing has made him exceptionally fast, tough, and skilled in various unconventional areas. However, his parents eventually accumulate a massive gambling debt and sell him to the yakuza for the value of his organs. Left abandoned by his parents and burdened with this significant debt during the Christmas season, Hayate reaches the lowest point of his life. In a desperate attempt to escape his fate and avoid the yakuza, he decides to become a bad guy and kidnap someone. The series explores his struggle as he navigates these extreme circumstances while trying to survive his family's negligence.
