The television series "Happiness Charge PreCure!" is a part of the Pretty Cure franchise. The story takes place on Earth, where the ruler of the evil Phantom Empire begins her invasion using an army of Choiarks and powerful monsters called Saiarks. As a result, Pretty Cures are dispatched to fight against the Phantom Empire threat. The series follows the story of a princess from the Blue Sky Kingdom, who joins the fight as a Pretty Cure named Cure Princess. However, she often finds herself running away scared. She is given a Crystal of Love by the Spirit of Earth, Blue, and is told to seek out a partner to fight alongside her. The princess then goes to the city of Pikarigaoka, where she randomly encounters others.
