Overview
Gunbuster is a Japanese original video animation (OVA) series that explores the near future of humanity's journey into space. In this era, humanity has taken its first steps towards exploring the far reaches of the galaxy. The series is set in a world where humanity is threatened by a huge race of insectoid aliens known as "Space Monsters." These aliens are dedicated to the eradication of mankind as they near closer and closer to discovering Earth. In response to this threat, humanity develops giant fighting robots piloted by hand-picked youth from around the world. The series follows the story of Noriko Takaya, the daughter of a famous deceased space captain, as she enters a training school despite her questionable talents as a pilot.
