Overview

GTO is a television series that premiered in 2012. The show is based on the manga series written by Toru Fujisawa and follows the life of Eikichi Onizuka, a former legendary bike gang member. Initially visiting Meishu Academy to work as a part-time gardener through his friend Ryuji Danma, Onizuka eventually transitions into a teaching role. After he intervenes to help a student named Noboru Yoshikawa who is being bullied by classmates including Kyoko Uehara, the school principal Yoshiko Sakurai decides to hire him. This decision is made despite opposition from the vice principal, Hiroshi Uchiyamada. As a teacher, Onizuka is tasked with managing a class of delinquents, a role he initially sought for the purpose of meeting high school girls. He employs an unprecedented and visceral approach to solving the various problems faced by his students. The series explores his unconventional methods as he navigates the challenges of the school environment and attempts to become a teacher.
