Overview

Good News Week is an Australian satirical panel game show that focuses on the week's news and headlines. The series was hosted by Paul McDermott, a former member of the Doug Anthony All-Stars. The program features co-hosts Mikey Robins and Julie McCrossin, with Claire Hooper appearing as a later co-host. The show originally aired from 19 April 1996 until 27 May 2000, and later returned for a second run from 11 February 2008 to 28 April 2012. During its initial run, the program aired on the ABC before being purchased by Network Ten in 1999. The show was revived for its second run when the 2007–2008 Writers Guild of America strike caused a cessation in the production of many imported United States programs on Network Ten. The comedy and satire presented in the show are drawn from recent news stories, political figures, media organizations, and aspects of the show itself. Each episode typically opens with a monologue delivered by McDermott.
