Overview

Golgo 13 is a 1973 live-action film produced by Toei Company that serves as an adaptation of the hit manga series. Directed by Junya Sato, the film features Ken Takakura in the title role as the professional assassin also known by the pseudonym Duke Togo. The narrative follows the mysterious protagonist, whose age and birthplace remain unknown, as he navigates a world where intelligence agencies cannot reach a consensus regarding his true identity. In this installment, Golgo 13 is contracted to kill Boss Goa, the leader of a global crime syndicate involved in human trafficking, weapons, and drugs. The character typically completes his assignments using a customized, scoped M16 rifle. The production was filmed entirely in the Imperial State of Iran and features a supporting cast that includes Pouri Banayi, Mohsen Sohrabi, and Jaleh Sam. The film, which has a runtime of one hour and forty-four minutes, was released in Japan on December 29, 1973. It was later followed by a sequel titled Golgo 13: Assignment Kowloon.
