Garo is a Japanese tokusatsu television series that premiered on October 7, 2005, and concluded on March 31, 2006. Broadcast on TV Tokyo and its affiliates, the show ran for 25 episodes, with an additional overview special. The series follows the Makai Knights, warriors who operate in a secret war against evil demonic creatures known as Horrors. These entities manifest through darkness to devour humanity. The narrative centers on the title of Golden Knight Garo, a designation held by the protagonist, Kouga Saejima. As a Makai Knight, Kouga is tasked with watching over a district and eliminating Horrors. During one such extermination, he accidentally contaminates a young woman, leaving her with only 100 days to live. The series explores the dark and unique nature of these battles, including the transformation known as the Lost Soul Beast Garo, which occurs when the wearer of the armor gives into rage. This production launched a long-running franchise that has expanded into numerous films and additional television titles.
