Flikken is a Flemish-Belgian television series centered on a police department located in Ghent. The program premiered in 1999 and concluded its broadcast run on 19 April 2009. Over the course of ten seasons, the series followed a team of six police officers tasked with investigating a variety of incidents, ranging from petty offenses to organized crime. The production aimed to depict police work in a realistic manner while incorporating elements of personal drama into the narrative. Throughout the show's decade-long history, many actors participated in the series, though Mark Tijsmans and Ludo Hellinx were the only performers to appear in every season. The series was produced by the VRT and aired on the Belgian public channel Eén as well as TR. By balancing procedural elements with character-driven storylines, the show maintained a presence on television for ten years before reaching its final conclusion in the spring of 2009.
